Warm welcome to Smithers and Kitwanga!
Pour être tout à fait honnête, après notre expérience à Prince George, je n'avais plus beaucoup d'attente concernant des rencontres avec des familles dans la partie nord de la Colombie Britannique...
Je faisais erreur !!! C'était sans compter sur les habitants de Smithers et alentours ! J'ai eu 4 propositions d'acceuil à Smithers et Kitwanga (à environ 1 h 30 de smithers) !
Nous avons tout d'abord été chaleureusement acceuillis par Sarah et sa famille (4 enfants) pour 3 nuits dans sa cours parsemée de jeux pour enfants, tyrolienne, trempoline, et rires. Un acceuil en toute simplicité, comme on les aime. De plus, Sarah a organisé pour l'occasion un potluck avec d'autres familles, au bord d'un joli lac. Ceci nous a donné l'occasion de connaître Cheechum et ses enfants, et d'entendre avec bonheur son histoire aussi atypique que riche et intéressante !
To be quite honest, after our experience in Prince George, I did not have a lot of expectations about meetings with families in northern BC ...
I was wrong !!! It was not counting on the people of Smithers and surroundings! I had 4 home proposals to Smithers and Kitwanga (about 1 hour and 30 minutes smithers)!
We were first warmly welcomed by Sarah and her family (4 children) for 3 nights in her dotted playground with children's games, zipline, trampoline, and laughs. A home in all simplicity, as we like them. In addition, Sarah organized for the occasion a potluck with other families, at the edge of a pretty lake. This gave us the opportunity to know Cheechum and his children, and to hear with success his story as atypical as rich and interesting!
Le lendemain, nous voilà partis pour un évênement médiéval avec la famille de Cheechum, pendant lequel nos enfants ont beaucoup joué ensemble, et ont aussi pu être initiés au tir à l'arc et assister aux lancers de couteaux et combats d'épées. Une journée totalement imprévue et très chouette, en bonne compagnie.
The next day, we went for a medieval event with the Cheechum family, during which our children played a lot together, and were also introduced to archery and to the throwing of knives and sword fights. A totally unexpected day and very nice, in good company.
Sous les conseils de Sarah, nous sommes allés faire une petite randonnée pour observer les twins falls, et des traces d'ours sur le sol (toujours repéré par notre passionné de 8 ans).
Under the guidance of Sarah, we went for a short hike to watch the twins falls, and bear tracks on the ground (still spotted by our 8 year old passionate).
La rencontre avec Jessica nous a conforté dans l'idée que nous voulions mieux les connaitre, et nous promettons de faire une pause chez eux au retour.
Nous voilà partis pour Stewart / Hyder……. et puis non finalement, à l'intersection, nous prenons la route vers Prince Ruper :-)
En route vers l'océan Pacifique !
The meeting with Jessica has strengthened us in the idea that we wanted to know them better, and we promise to take a break at home on their return.
Here we go for Stewart / Hyder ....... and then finally, at the intersection, we take the road to Prince Ruper :-)

Puis, nous avons repris la route, en faisant un arrêt au marché de New Hazelton, où la famille de Jessica vend ses légumes chaque dimanche. La vie nous surprend toujours…. alors que nous venions de faire l'aquisition d'un ukulele quelques jours avant, ce mini marché était doté d'un stand de ukulele avec un atelier offert !
Then we hit the road, making a stop at the New Hazelton Market, where Jessica's family sells her vegetables every Sunday. Life always surprises us ... While we had just done the ukulele aquisition a few days before, this mini market had a ukulele stand with a workshop offered!
Nous voilà partis pour Stewart / Hyder……. et puis non finalement, à l'intersection, nous prenons la route vers Prince Ruper :-)
